Missions, Anyone?
One creative sponsor utilizes a variety of methods to make the missions units come alive for her girls. “We watch a video about the particular country we are studying (you can check out videos from the library). We also have a dinner party and I purchase different types of food and drinks—such as green tea—specific to the country. The girls dress up in the country’s typical clothing and we pretend to be in that country. We compare the different tastes, textures, and colors of foods. We also compare the types of toys the children play with. If I cannot locate a toy from that country, I print a picture of it from the Internet. Travel agents are a great resource because they can provide pamphlets with pictures and information about different places.”
