Oklahoma SuperGirls Ministries!
Our girls in Oklahoma are "SuperGirls"! This year we have celebrated Psalm 139:14 and learned how special God created us and how much He loves us. We promoted being SuperGirls in our camps, retreats, celebration, and trainings. Our "SuperGirl" T-shirts were a huge hit and even the Rainbow boys had blue "SuperKid" T-shirts.
This past August Oklahoma crowned 172 Honor Stars at our District Celebration. There were also 27 Friends Graduates and 8 Girls Only Graduates. We presented $500 scholarships to the 6 GO Graduates who were also awarded the Gold Medal of Honor. Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen, Lacey Russ, played for the offertory at Celebration. Lacey greeted the girls and encouraged them to lead pure lives and shared that her first crown was as an Honor Star on that very platform 7 years earlier. Two weeks later, in Florida, Lacey was crowned Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2011! To learn more about Lacey Russ and see photos and video, go to www.maoteen.org
This February we are looking forward to our annual Oklahoma Girls Retreat for sixth- through twelfth- grade girls. For the past nine years we have joined with our District Youth Department to provide a quality retreat for teen girls in Oklahoma. We have had amazing speakers throughout the years and attendance is 600-1,200 girls and leaders. Our teen girls love the worship, the amazing services, the altar time, the fun, and fellowship on Friday night. Then on Saturday we have a special service for Junior High while the Senior High girls have classes, then lunch, and after lunch we have a Senior High service while the Junior High girls attend classes. This schedule allows us to minister to the maturity level of the girls. Girls have testified of healing, redemption, and call into the ministry after this retreat and leave energized for the Lord!
New event this year! Oklahoma Girls Ministries will join with our District Royal Rangers this fall in a new venture. We will be participating together in a Family Camping Experience at Oklahoma's Camp Adventure! Activities are being planned for an exciting weekend of camping and fun for the whole family.
As Oklahoma Girls Ministries we are dedicated to building bridges in children's and teen girl ministries across the state and our goal this year is to do whatever it takes to reach kids for Christ. We feel blessed beyond measure for the hundreds of leaders who pour into the lives of children in our wonderful district. 2011 is going to be an awesome year!
