Plan to Succeed
By: Bobbie Moyer
I am certain that no leader ever plans to fail! Yet it sometimes does happen. I have learned many things over the past 35 years while serving in various positions in Girls Ministries. Among the most important is that I must plan ahead in order to succeed.
We start each year out with great expectations and excitement for our girls, as well as for ourselves. There are things to achieve, events to attend, and activities to have fun doing. However, if we are not prepared, the momentum may quickly fade. I would like to encourage you to spend some time going over the procedures listed below to help you PLAN TO SUCCEED.
1. Plan your calendar of events and activities for the year as early as possible. A leader's planning meeting, with calendar in hand, is a good way to get everyone on board. Make sure you have your local church and district event dates in order to plan your club dates accordingly.
2. Plan your yearly options for giving. It's important to teach girls to give cheerfully and faithfully, so plan for ways to do that. Get it all on the calendar to help remind you.
3. Plan your club meetings for the year. This doesn't mean you will have every lesson for the year all planned, but it does mean that you will know where you are going. This is especially important for helping those girls who will be finishing their achievement requirements to be honored at celebration time. Keeping track of their completed requirements is essential and will help keep them on track to finish before the deadline, which means less stress for everyone!
