Helping Girls Discover Their Value

Every girl was created to be an All Star Girl, and it is important that each girl values who God has created her to be! It doesn't matter if she loves drawing, writing, singing, cooking, or throwing a ball around; each girl is special with unique gifts and abilities.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." It is up to us to help them discover their value.

As the new year begins, ask girls and leaders to share with each other what makes them special. Help girls see value in who God created them to be. Here are some ways you can encourage your girls and leaders this year:

• Create a "bucket list of values" for the group. Each girl has a small bucket or jar that holds gems. Each time a girl or leader catches another girl doing something on the list, she gets a gem. Be sure to have a list that includes the gifts and abilities of the girls in your group. Things for your list could include:

o Saying something kind

o Demonstrating good manners

o Helping a leader with an activity

o Praying for someone's need

o Writing an encouraging note

o Reading a Bible verse aloud

• Have leaders write a note to each girl about what makes them special. It is always a win to include a Bible verse of encouragement.

• Set aside time for girls to talk about the things they enjoy doing. They could draw a picture or make a list, and then take some time to share with the group. It is great if the leaders participate in this, too!
