Q: What is Sunlight Kids?

A. Sunlight Kids (SLK) is a curriculum for nursery children ages 0 to 3. The primary age group is 2 to 3 but children as young as 18 months old can sit in on the guided play and lesson time. You can find out more about SLK on this page of our site - http://mgc.ag.org/sunlight/. The coordinator's kit is a one-time purchase and includes samples of various support pieces and the children's pieces.

Q: Since Sunlight Kids is a program for nursery (0 to 36 months), does each child need a new Student Book each year?

A: No. The Student Book is used primarily by children 24 to 36 months old. Nursery cards are available for children younger than 24 months and provide basic phrases to say to and with younger children during snack, changing, floor/talk, song, and an abbreviated story time. These cards are on the Coordinator's CD-ROM and can be reproduced and laminated.

Q: Do Sunlight Kids clubs need to be chartered?

A. No. While Sunlight Kids is a part of the Girls Ministries clubs, we do not charter them. Many churches use Sunlight Kids as a nursery curriculum for Sunday mornings as well. We do not want to create confusion with its use.

Q: What awards to children in Sunlight Kids receive?

A: Included in each student book are 12 stickers and a graduation certificate. Each month the unit sticker is placed on the back of the certificate. When children turn 3 and promote to Rainbows, they receive their certificate and the unit stickers. We do not recommend including Sunlight Kids graduates in an annual Girls Clubs Celebration since they will be moving on as they turn 3, not at the end of a specific time each year.
