Steps for Dealing with Inappropriate behavior in the clubroom
- Initiate Minimal Interaction
Look directly at the girl, but do not say anything. Move physically closer to the child, or remove the distraction as you teach. - Advance to Moderate Interaction
Make a verbal comment (never sarcastic or humiliating). Talk one-on-one with the child. - Advance to Maximum Interaction
Inform the Girls Ministries Coordinator of the situation. Make a mental note or written record of her behavior. Set up a good behavior reward system with the child. (Diminish rewards gradually with success.)
If behavior is violent or endangering others, take necessary measures and abide by the church policy.
Remember we are not teaching a program, we are teaching children!
