I sat in our pediatrician’s office last year and watched as she examined my 14-year-old daughter as part of her routine check-up. Amanda has always been relatively healthy so I was prepared to hear the usual, “she is developing well and on schedule for her age and aside from needing a DTaP booster she should be just fine.” What I heard was something that threw me into a tailspin and one year later I am still spinning.

I Care...About Protecting Children
The Assemblies of God national Women’s Ministries Department is joining other evangelical ministries in introducing a new campaign, “I Care ... about protecting children,” to call women to prayer and action. The number of incidents of sexual abuse of children and young people is rapidly increasing. We must protect our children from sexual exploitation, whether by exposure to pornography or media messages, by being molested, being stalked by predators, or being sold into sex slavery.

The Games They Play
My husband and I often discuss the dangers of smoking, drinking, doing drugs, and having premarital sex with both of our teenage children. We make it a point to meet their friends and get acquainted with their families. We are vigilant when it comes to what movies they watch both in the theatre and on TV. It seems we were unaware of the latest craze among teens.

Protecting Our Children
At age 13, Cassie Chivers, was abducted at gunpoint by the Madison, Wis., area “Mall Rapist.” Cassie says, “I’ve realized that miracles shouldn’t be kept secret. I need to share my experience so others can benefit by what I have learned.”
